Weingut Markgraf von Baden

Weingut Markgraf von Baden – the winery of Markgraf (Marques) von Baden has its seat and a winery in Schloss Salem, near lake Constance, and in Durbach, near Offenburg. Known to have ordered in 1782 for the first time to plant Riesling without mixing with other varietals, the Marques of Baden is known for great Rieslings, Weissburgunder, Pinot Noir but also Müller-Thurgau. Vines of this varietal had been smuggled across lake Constance by the manager of the winery after it had been created in the nearby Thurgau canton in Switzerland.
